The Position
We are seeking a hands-on Chief Engineer (Y3 / 3000kW) to join a well-run 34.5m Sunseeker. This is a practical, all-round engineering role suited to someone who is confident managing the full technical operation of a smaller vessel while also contributing actively to deck operations.
The position would suit either an experienced small-vessel Chief or a motivated junior engineer stepping up, with strong support from an experienced Captain who is technically knowledgeable and hands-on.
Key Responsibilities
- Full responsibility for engine room management and maintenance
- Managing and maintaining MTU 2000 series engines
- Overseeing all technical systems, logbooks, and planned maintenance
- Conducting safety equipment checks and ensuring compliance
- Handling fuelling operations and pump-outs
- Assisting with tenders and jet ski operations (launch, recovery, spotting, and occasional driving if qualified)
- Supporting deck operations, including:
- Anchoring procedures
- Mooring operations (bow work, lazy lines)
This role requires a crew member who is happy to be integrated across departments, particularly on deck during key operational moments.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum Y3 / III/3 Chief Engineer (3000kW) certification
- MTU 2000 series experience essential
- Previous experience on similar-sized motor yachts preferred
- Confident working independently as sole engineer
- Willing to be hands-on and support deck operations
